Cannot Load Btrieve client Engine!

Hello,
I been encountering an error when I install the Pervasive 7.0 client apps on a windows98 workstation and running a application. We are in a tcp/ip environment. all the IP and submask id are ok.
1.After installing the server edition on a nt4 system, I checked and ran the install scout to check the local database test. no errors. perfect install.

2. I venture to a WK98 , I ping the server , good reponse.
ditto from the server to wk98. good response.

3. from the wks98 I install from a share directory.. use the run option. they (pervasive)encourage u to use start/run/browse to the share client/install on the server.
did that.. install worked out good.. until........

4. Install testing using (install scout) bombs out when running the connectivity test- will work if you just test tcpip..WKS98 using only tcp/ip a dino called netbu..

5. PROGRAM LOCKS UP..kill process using ctrl/alt/del/.. to recover..

6. all access from server directory share is give to domain members and user id..

7.I am at a loss on this one.. everything was install by the book.. could it have a patch.. just installed outa the box.

8. just need to run this (pervasive sql 7.0/btrieve 7) and old apps for three months more and then migrating to MSsql 2000 .. running new version on MSSQL2000 with no problems.. yea...!

has anybody encounter this phenomena...?

Hello all,
Found the solution after three weeks of tech books and tech forums.. the list goes on.

Goes like this...

They (pervasive) have sp5 ..if you purchased original book. You need to upgrade min,, sp1 then sp5. You must do this for it to work, lot of fixes in this patch.

next don't install using net neigboehood or explorer. Start the process from a dos shell. after install reboot client and stop/restart services in server. Now system works..
