Cannot Link Tables to ODBC datasource

Access 2003 professional.
SQL server 2000 full install.
I can set up the odbc connection from the admin console, but when I try to link tables manually from inside MSACCESS nothing happens. I select link tables, scroll down to the bottom option to use ODBC datasource. When I click that the screen closes and nothing happens. No error, nothing. Any thoughts?
