Howdy!

I just installed driver for an adaptec 29160 car following instructions given at

ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/drivers/OSR506/btld/ad160/ad160.readme

The driver can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/drivers/OSR506/btld/ad160/

In my attempt to relink I got:
i386ld: Symbol Sdsk_no_tag in /var/opt/K/SCO/link/1.1.1Eb/etc/conf/pack.d/ad160/
space.o is multiply defined. First defined in /var/opt/K/SCO/link/1.1.1Eb/etc/co
nf/pack.d/alad/space.o
i386ld: Symbol Sdsk_no_sg in /var/opt/K/SCO/link/1.1.1Eb/etc/conf/pack.d/ad160/s
pace.o is multiply defined. First defined in /var/opt/K/SCO/link/1.1.1Eb/etc/con
f/pack.d/alad/space.o
ERROR: Can not link-edit unix

idbuild: idmkunix had errors.
System build failed

I am now in a scary spot as I have no idea how to reverse the installation and getting a clean relink.

What do I do? Where do I go?

Thank you all in advance!

Seems you want ad160 AND alad and you can't have both.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Since the rebuild failed a reboot will take you back to the previous layout.

I did have an alad controller but removed it a while ago. I did 'mkdev .scsi' and cannot see any SCSI device configured thus nothing to remove.

Is there a clean way out of this? The bitter thing about this is that I am trying to install the card to install my DDS4 tape drive ... get it? All this so that I can "backup" my server :-(

Thanks;

edfair,

The rebuild failed and so my kernel still same as it was prior to my attempting to rebuild. While this is good news, it is not exactly great news as I will eventually need to relink this kernell for one reason or another.

However, if you mean to say that rebooting will get rid of anything that's causing the relink process to fail, then this is terrific news.

Thanks;

No, I am saying that when you reboot you will be back with the ALAD driver in the kernel. Where you were prior to the upchuck.

Normal removal of the ALAD would be through use of single user and custom or single user and software manager. Supposed to remove the stuff from the kernel and force a rebuild. But in the exact same scene in 4.2 I've run across some sort of glitch that doesn't automatically rebuild and a manual rebuild crashes. So I don't know if your version will act the same way.
