Hi all

I have just tried adding a computer to a domin through a firewall (the pc is in the dmz).

I have opened up every tcp and udp ports between the internal and the dmz.

I ran nslookup and recieved the following error message:

"dc_servername can't find _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.ad_name: query refused"

Any ideas

The Pc is in a DMZ...

Do you have any WINS or DNS resolution in that DMZ?

That's probably the cause you can't join the domain...

With regard, Sybje

the computer in the dmz is getting its dns/wins resolution from the server within the domain.

If I ping or trace route from the dmz'd pc then it resolves names to ip and vice versa fine. I can rdp in and out of the dmz.

what message do you get, when you try to join the domain...

We are using a DMZ also, and we don't have any problems to join the domein from it...

Sybje

it just sais that the domain controller cannot be found but we can remote desktop in and out of the dmz at the moment (due to all tcp and udp ports being opened).
