Cannot install Suse 8.0 Pro on XP1800+ PC

I built a new computer using an Athlon xp1800 on an Asus A7v333 board. Win2k loaded fine, but when I try to install Suse 8.0 Pro the motherboard beeps as if it is overheating. I have installed Suse on other machines without a hitch. So far Suse, AMD and Asus have failed to respond to my inquiries so I turn to the all-mighty public!
