Cannot install Norton Antivirus

Hi,

I try to install Norton Antivirus but it said "The same or newer version of Norton Antivirus is already installed....".
However, I have removed the Norton a few weeks ago and I cannot find it in the Add or Remove window.
I am got virus/adware at the moment, do you think the virus/adware causes this case? What I can do?
