cannot install exchange 2000 server

Have 2 servers.

1 is a Domain Controller running w2k, active directory.

The other is a member server (MS). MS was successful in joining the domain.

I see MS in active dir users & computers on the DC.

However, when I try to install Exchange 2000 Server on MS, I get "setup unable to access windows 2000 Active Directory" and "Failed to contact Schema Master Server for this Active Directory Forest".

The dns server I specified in the tcp ip properties on MS is the ip address of DC.
