Cannot import .gif's in Publisher 2000

I recently re-loaded WIN 98 SE and Publisher 2000. Now I cannot import .gif files.
When Pub opens a dialog box to insert graphics, it only lists .wmf, .jpg, and a couple others.
I have re-loaded WIN and Pub to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the exact same software and have no problem with .gif files. Your problem may be an import filter issue in Windows, so check there first to see if you can import .gif files directly into Word. If not, that's the issue. It you can, go to Microsofts support site and poke around there for a solution.

Microsoft has a new technical bulletin posted on the MS Publisher support site that goes through the process step by step. It's actually a rather helpful MS post (for a change).
