Cannot get VPN working error code 649

I have a dedicated server configured as a VPN server (SRV2003, we only have 3 users who use VPN and then not often. It has worked fine for quite awhile.

Yesterday I renamed the VPN group (do to company changes) and now when a VPN client tries to connect I get an error message 649, client does have permission to dial-in, however the users account is set to grant access, and the policy is set allow access - what am I doing wrong?

Did you reconfigure the clients?

Yes I did.

I've come to the conclusion that something is screwed on the server - OS corruption of some sort.

I've now set-up and configured another server and it works fine, the set-up is the same as the other one, so who knows.

The old server has being running for quite awhile, around 6 years, file system checks out as Ok, but.... I'll look at the RAID diagnostics tomorrow, checkout R/W errors and growth defects etc.
