I am getting this message in IE, in Windows Explorer, everywhere. I have run full scans with latest definitions of McAfee, Windows Defender and Adaware. Adaware did remove a bunch of things, but still get this message everywhere. I cannot work on my laptop anymore. Are there any other spyware app that can get rid of this particular one?

Maybe you should consider a clean install if you removed "a bunch of things".

Meanwhile, you can post a hijackThis log

Cheers,
Dian

Sounds like you have the antivirus 2008 virus. Try faq760-7060.

I just downloaded spybot and ran a complete scan and rebooted. Still have the same error.

What is the exact text of the message?

The message was "Some dangerous viruses detected in your system that is afffecting Vista Ultimate files...Click okay to download antispyware." Click No, keeps opening a blank webpage. I was getting it everywhere.

Finally did a system restore and now it's finally gone. Geez.

Don't be surprised if it returns. It does sound like XP Antivirus 2008 or Vista Antivirus 2009, both variants of ransomware that promise to fix a nonexistent problem for money, then continue to harass you.

MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware's specialty is removing this threat:

One machine I was working on got that, and AVG 8 Free removed it pretty much immediately. Also Windows Defender picked up on it as well.

Just a thought.
