Cannot get Perl or CGI to run under Apache1

Hi there, I have httpd running on RH7.1, the server is running fine and serving pages quite happily. However, CGI's are not being executed. Pages in the cgi-bin are returning Internal Server Errors, the logs indicate 'Permission denied: Exec of /var/

http://www/cgi-bin/blah.pl

failed'

Now I realise this may well be a permission or configuration error, I need a pointer though (because I don't want to bodge the httpd.conf file too much -!)
I can supply the httpd.conf file if you need it.

Do a:

chmod -v 777 blah.pl


Then try it again.
