System crashed AIX 4.2 on a 43P had error 553
Tried to recover unsuccessfully
reinstalled AIX with 4.3.3
when using smit or command line to change ip address on en0 get the following:
if_en: ns_alloc(en0) failed with errno = 19
Method error (/usr/lib/methods/chgif):
0514-068 Cause not known.
ifconfig: error calling entry point for
/usr/lib/drivers/if_en: No such device
0821-103: The command /usr/sbin/ifconfig en0 inet 192.168.41.99 arp netmask 255
.255.255.0 mtu 1500 up failed.
0821-229 chgif: ifconfig command failed.
The status of"en0" Interface in the current running system is uncertain.
/usr/sbin/mktcpip: Problem with command: chdev, return code = 1
using the following ifconfig the wierd characters show up.
This is a character based system. No Xwindows.
# ifconfig -a
ifconfig: error loading
/usr/lib/drivers/if_/ò.»/ò.Ë/ò.í/ò/ /usr/lib/drivers/if_: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/drivers /if_en does exist as shown below
# ls -l if*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin 21654 Aug 19 1999 if_en
