For some unknown reason applets (hover buttons) on internet explorer have stopped appearing leaving a blank space where they were.
How do I get them to appear

Which version are you running?
Have you installed SP1, of you're running 6.0 (which I'm going to guess you are)?
If not, do so. If this isn't the fix, then make sure all of your Java settings are enabled, first off. (Under Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level...also on the Advanced tab.)

Yes I am running XP with 6.0 + SP1. Have checked all boxes, still no luck. What can I try next.

the Java runtime could be damaged or corrupted.

Check Tools | Internet Options | Settings | View Objects

Like carrr said I'd reinstall, be sure to run the add/remove Programs routine first just to clean up the registry.

You know, I'm laughing myself silly here.
I've pointed several folks toward the Java solution, but have never really had need to implement it myself. I mean, I have no problems...yeah, ok.
I looked under View Objects and dagnabbit if my Java Runtime 1.3.1 didn't read as damaged.
So, long story short...removed all previous instances in View Objects AND in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, then downloaded and installed v. 1.4 from the Sun site.
The bittersweet side of all this is, I don't know that I'll be able to tell a difference, what with no symptoms on the front end...

Hi Guys,

That's solved it. Everything is working fine now.
Runtine was damaged, followed your instructions and if by magic all my buttons appeared.

Again thanks a lot for all the good advice

Steve
