I have created the message I want with all the prompts in place. I believe I have followed all logical steps to enable my Merlin Mail Voice Messaging System Release 3 AA to answer the calls. Yet after 6 rings (too many) , it finally picks up and I get "Extension 110 (operator) is not available, to transfer to another extension press * T". That is not my message. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
BDZ

Is your voicemail calling group assign to an autoattendant in the voicemail?

Assign the LINES you want answered to theM VOICE MAIL CALLING GROUP.

They will be answered immediately.

Let me know.....

Did you record your message under the Day menu or the Night menu? It sounds like the day menu is coming on.

Thanks to all who responded. I have (I think) done all of those things and still cannot get AA to pick up:(

Do you have SPM?

Perhaps you can print a few things to help figure this out.

Group Coverage, General Trunk, to start with.

I can get AA to answer! Now, I am stuck in a loop. I have mailbox 110 set to COS 15 (which is why AA picks up). My problem is that when the caller presses 0 to go to the operator - the AA picks up again. YUK!

Thanks,
BDZ

Now you can set your operator extension to something else.
(In messaging)

What it sounds like is X10 is the principal user of the lines, or, X10 has coverage of the lines assuming that X10 is the first logical ID with the lines that ring on it. A work around is to create another calling group, say 771, add the VM calling group as overflow, So, the procedure would be, sysprog--exit--extensions--more--grp calling--overflow--enter the caling group{{771}}--enter the overflow group(vm calling group{{770?}}--the next screen will have three options, number based, set this to 99, time based, set this at 5 seconds for every ring. Now add the lines to this calling group, extensions--more--grp calling--lines/trunks--{{771}}--enter lines, 801, 802..ect. Now,go into the VM and create a M/B 771 with COS of 15 and change the COS back to what it was, 1??. Now you have the delay, going to the AA, with a M/B on X10. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the detailed instructions. It ALMOST works. The AA picks up and all my prompts work fine! The only problem now is that if the caller tries to enter an extension either directly or with *T - the system hangs up on the caller - not good.

Once that is solved, I will be a happy camper.

Thanks again to all who helped.

What is your extension range in your legend? X10-??. In your VM, selector code 1 should be set to direct extension transfer, if your have 20's then selector code 2 should be set to direct extension transfer, 30's 40's and so on. You change this be dialing into the VM, going to system administrator 3 for AA, AA #, 1 for day 2 for night, 6 to modify, select code 1, 9 to change, select code for direct extension transfer, I think it is 5, when finished press *# then #. Good luck.

I should have been clearer in my last post. I have selector code 1 set to direct transfer. It acts like it is going to transfer - but then instead it hangs up. Also, if the caller does *T it also hangs up. The selector code used to let a caller choose "Press 2 for Sales", for example, works great - transfers right over to ext. 112. Also, when night service is on - it transfers just fine.

Thanks.

This continues to happen - but now it is intermittent. I am very confused by this.

Thanks in advance for any tips.
