I've tried using putty to telnet to this AIX box and was able to login, but the terminal seemed to be formatted incorrectly after that, jumbled with extra charachters. I tried changing the terminal string to 'vt100' and 'ansi', to no avail. This is AIX 4.3, anyone know why I can't get a good terminal ?

Thanks in advance,
Karl Haines

First, logout and log back in, and do "echo $TERM", this should show you the default user terminal.

If you are using the IBM 315X consoles, I always do. export TERM=ibm3151

Hope this helps!
