Cannot get a 2008 server to join a 2003 AD

I have a 2008 server that I want to join my domain (2003). It gives me the typical RPC error. When I check DNS, the server is getting registered. When I check the computers in the domain controller, it is there with a red X. When I re-enable the computer and try again, I get the red X back.

Here is the output from the NetSetup.log. I made sure the client is the same time as both AD servers.

Any ideas (as I have tried a number of posts pertaining to the 0x6ba error) would be appreciated

What do you see in the event log of the server you're trying to join to the domain?

I would also perhaps see about deleting the computer account from AD and trying again.

I had a similar problem. This a list of thing I had to do before I could get our 2003 LAN to accept the 2008 server.

Disable UAC:
Type msconfig into a command line. Navigate to the Tools tab. Highlight Disable UAC and click the Launch button. Reboot.


Disable Offline Files:
Open Control Panel from the Start menu and type Offline in the Control Panel
search box. Click on the green Offline Files link and click the disable
button.

Disable Remote Differential Compression:
Open Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn off Windows features, uncheck Remote Differential Compression.

Disable Auto Tuning:
From CMD window, type: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Disable IPv6:
Open network connection properties, uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 TCP/IPv6.

Link Speed:
Open network connection properties, Configure, Advanced, Link Speed. Set to 100 Mbps Full Duplex.

Network Sharing:
Set Network Discovery – On
Set File Sharing – On
Set Public Folder Sharing – On


AD will set mapped drives and printers. If first time for printer, allow install of driver.
