Hi gang,

I have installed redhat 7.2 on my system and it doesnt let me ftp to anywhere it gives Segmentation Fault.
In the xinet.d there is no entry for ftp like there is for telnet. Could any1 help me out so I can use FTP. Thanx in advance.

/etc/xinetd.d/ftp is for inbound ftp, not outbound ftp. So, you are getting a seg fault when trying to ftp somewhere? Do you have ncftp installed? Bruce Garlock

Hi,

Theres not much to go wrong with the ftp client - it only uses ncurses and the standard clib. Is that the standard redhat 'ftp' rpm ? (rpm -qi ftp) .

You could run the command under strace to see if it gives any clues... For example

$ strace ftp localhost

instead of

$ ftp localhost

(or do you mean Gftp (gui) ?)

Hope this helps
