We have transactional replication set up and replicating to 2 other servers. I am trying to add a third. They already have the database on the system that they loaded from a backup of our database. Now when I try to replicated I get the following error:

Could not find stored procedure 'sp_MSins_ValidCode'

I first tried it without sending a snapshot since that already had the database and data, then I tried it with sending a snapshot, but either way I am getting errors.

Is there anyway to get rid of these errors without the owners of the other server having to do any work on their end?

cocopud,

Replication is pretty complex, as you are finding out. My experience has been that, on another server, it is best to completely reconfigure replication from scratch. Why ? When you restored the db, the name of the old server is embedded in many system tables that are related to merge/transactional/snapshot replication.

I would run sp_removedbreplication and others that you can find by searching for 'system stored procedures' in Books On Line. Then go thru the steps to set up trans replication to that server.

That's what I would do.

good luck. John
