I just installed Windows XP and now my Hotmail is not working through Outlook Express or through the hotmail web site.

I am getting the Outlook Express error:

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Zander's Hotmail', Server: ' Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12007, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

and the Internet Exploror error "The page cannot be displayed"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have rhe same problem with XP and Outlook Express 6.
Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: ' Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12007, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I've been looking around for an answer, if you guys found one please let me know. If I find it I'll post it:

Thanx

I have suffered this problem many times using prodigy.net.mx. In all cases it has turned out to be a server fault and goes away the following day/week depending on the competence of the techie at the server site.

yeah, it usually does. I have customers getting returned mail from hotmail users all the time with that same error message in it. with all search i've found no fix. and good luck getting support for your OE hotmail. its not supported by MSN/microsoft "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

The links suggested above do not work as a solution to this problem. Anyone any new suggestion for MS flaw?

To resolve this behavior, modify Internet Explorer's Privacy settings to include Hotmail.com in the list of domains that always allow cookies. Follow these steps:
Code:
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Internet Explorer. Tools - Internet Options - Privacy - Sites Add Hotmail.com

Next I backed up all the outlook express files and deleted them in the outlook express folder. Easiest way to do this is:
Code:
right click your inbox, go to: properties. Copy the address of the location (minus the filename itself to the Run-box. Explorer will now open the outlook folder; copy paste the dbx-files to a save location. Delete all the dbx-files in the Outlook Epress folder, and restart Outlook Express. Delete your hotmail-account. Recreate the account.

And then Outlook Expressed got my hotmail-files again. Now you can copy back the saved dbx-files. But this can give the same problem all over again because maybe one of the dbx-files is corrupt.
