I have a W2000 disk that wont boot and has thus been rendered a slave to a new WindowsXP drive. I wish to retrieve the old emails from the W2000 drive and have searched it for .DBX and .PST files with no luck. The emails must be there somewhere...how do I locate and import them?

Thanks,

Tufwheel

Oh yea... before anyone asks, I was using outlook express and still am.

from Outlook Express:

File -> Import -> Messages

Microsoft Outlook Express (I don't know if it is 4 or 6 in win2000)

(if OE6, import from a store directory)

Path is:

win2k drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{Horrible Number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Thanks, that's good information. The path turned out to be a little different, but I was able to locate them by searching for "outlook express." The problem is that the import "wizard" swears that there really aren’t any email files in the specified folder or that they are open by some other application. It just doesn’t seem to want to work...

Make sur that you are using the same or newer version of OE than what you are importing. OE5 wont touch OE6 files, but is OK the other way around. Make sure that "read only" is off for the files, and select the whole folder not individual files. Sometimes selecting two folders above can help.
