I want to change my server from Pentium to Pentium III and upgrade to windows 2000 professional.

I have mirrored my hard drive installed it in the newer unit upgraded Windows NT to windows 2000 pro. I can go online However when I go to start/programs/Aloha/Aloha EDC I get the following error.

CEdcDlg::OnInitDialog cannot find \\ALOHABOH\BOOTDRV\ALOHA

my terminals are saying cannot locate server

What shoud I do?

you're likely going to have to reinstall aloha within that new OS. I'd start with that.

Thats a DCOM error, make sure its installed with your OS.

I never recieved an install disk from my dealer. They don't want to give them out. Where else can I get the install disk?

Is there any other way to correct the problem without a disk?

You can probably register it manually, but it can be a pain. What version of software are you using?

I am confused about my version my EDC is 5.2.5.76 but some other parts are 5.2.5.100 I do not know if it makes a big difference.

no, that shouldn't be a big deal. you CAN manually re-install the services, which is just like a installation, as long as the core files are there. I've actually installed it w/no cd before. (i can post instructions tomorrow, on pda now, too much typing :) )

just out of curiosity, does the aloha manager launch properly on the back office pc??

The Aloha Manager does Launch but gives error massage something about all parts may not be working.

Make sure the fileserver is named Alohaboh and the drive is shared with the name bootdrv.

Fileserver was named Alohaboh and the drive was shared alrady.

Vic, try this:

Navigate to the BIN directory and type the following commands individually:

ALOHAMGR.EXE /REGSERVER

ALOHASEC.EXE /REGSERVER

CTLSVR.EXE /SERVICE

REGSVR32.EXE AMGRPS.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE AMGRSHIM.DLL (Version 5.0x only)

REGSVR32.EXE ASECPS.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE ARSEC.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE ARSECPS.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE MNT4X.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE EDTPUNCH.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE CTL4X.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE USERTOOL.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE CTLSVRPS.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE ALOHALAB.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE CALCEDIT.OCX

REGSVR32.EXE QWERTY.OCX

REGSVR32.EXE INTERPRT.DLL (Version 5.2x and higher)

REGSVR32.EXE CRYSTL32.OCX (Version 5.2x and higher)

EDCSVR.EXE /SERVICE

REGSVR32.EXE EDCSVRPS.DLL

REGSVR32.EXE EDCSEC.DLL

See what that does.

Thank you so much.

How do I navigate to Bin Direcrory?

Is it the same one in Aloha folder?

There is a setupPOS in that Bin folder would that help?

You need to go to the drive where Aloha is installed, the same one you have shared as bootdrv. So you go to a command promopt ( go to START >> Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt ).

You'll have to navigate to your Aloha directory. For example, if it's on the D: drive, type:

D:

then type

cd Aloha\Bin

From there, type those commands listed above.

If I had to take a wild guess at what's going on here, I'd say it has to do with the next operating system/computer not recognizing the correct paths and DLL files, and this should "integrate" them with the registry for new OS.

Do that, try to launch your EDC and Aloha Manager, and post your results.

also remember that, depending on the version, we create batch files in the Aloha root folder for registering and unregistering Aloha.

They are called Register_Iber(qs)_version #.bat and Unregister_Iber(qs)_version #.bat. For example if you are on 5.3.30 Quickservice the name will be

Register_Iberqs_5_3_30_0.bat and Unregister_Iberqs_5_3_30_0.bat

Note that these run silently by default or in other words, no errors will pop up so if you are so inclined to want to see messages pop up, such as the service registering correctly, edit the batch file and remove the /s variable from each line.

These will do the same thing as going out an manually entering the info.

I found the register file this is it do you see any problems? it does not match the list above

C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\WINNT\System32\ATL.DLL /s
C:\Aloha\bin\ALOHASEC.EXE /regserverquiet
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\ASecPS.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\ARSec.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\ARSecPS.DLL /s
C:\Aloha\bin\AlohaMgr.EXE /regserverquiet
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\AMgrPS.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\Ctl4x.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\EdcSec.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\EdtPunch.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\Mnt4x.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\UserTool.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\AlohaLab.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\InterPrt.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\Crystl32.OCX /s
C:\Aloha\bin\Ctlsvr.EXE /Service /s /LOCALACCOUNT /iberdir C:\Aloha /robust
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\CtlsvrPS.DLL /s
C:\Aloha\bin\Edcsvr.EXE /Service /s /LOCALACCOUNT /iberdir C:\Aloha
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\EdcsvrPS.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\CalcEdit.OCX /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\Qwerty.OCX /s

The list above your post presumes you are in a cmd prompt in the Aloha\Bin folder already thus the reason it looks a bit different plus I think also that the above list is from the AKB/RKS which shows some files from older versions and apparently not updated to show some of the newer files that need to be registered.

Is the bin located in C:\Aloha or is it C:\Bootdrv\Aloha?

If it is C:\Aloha, then no problems, if it is C:\Bootdrv\Aloha then you will need to change the batch file to show this instead of c:\aloha.

Also is this only an EDC problem or EDC and CtlSvr? If only EDC then you really only need these lines.

C:\Aloha\bin\Edcsvr.EXE /Service /s /LOCALACCOUNT /iberdir C:\Aloha
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\EdcsvrPS.DLL /s
C:\WINNT\System32\Regsvr32.exe C:\Aloha\bin\EdcSec.DLL /s
C:\Aloha\bin\ALOHASEC.EXE /regserverquiet

I think what I am doing wrong is copying the entire Aloha folder to the new computer thus replacing the Bin folder every time.

Whitch folder do I need to copy?
I have the folloowing
adp, BackOffice, Backups, Bin, BMP, Clarifye, CRW, DAO, DATA, Delivery, EDC, ELOBOOT, FTP, History, HTML, IC, MISC, NEWDATA, PAYUSA, PCPERS, PMS, Profiles, Recipe, RptExport, RPTSET, SAMPDATA, SQL, SUM, TERMFLOP, TMP, tmpData, vbo.

whitch files do I need to copy?
I have the following
ALOHA.LIC, CCGCREDM, CCGCSOLD, CCHOUSE, CCNDPTY, CCPETTY, CCPMIX, CCSLS, CCTIME, DAT, INSTALL, LSE.FLG, README, UNWISE.

ALSO NORTON INTERNET SECURITY ASKED THIS QUESTION AND RECOMENDED TO ALLWAYS BLOCK AND I CLICKED OK. Should I have done that?
alohaas.exe is attempting to connect to a DNS server.

Hey partial good news. I registered the Aloha and copied all files exept Backoffice, backups, bin, bmp and aloha manager started without an error however when I tried to start EDC I got the following error.

CEdeDlg:OnInitDialog Unable to find the EDC DCOM server. Make sure it is properly registered and licensed.

How can I fix this?

P.S. My terminals where up and running OK.

Vic, technically, you should copy everything over for the Aloha directory, with a possible exception being the subdirecties bearing old sales data 200604014, etc.

Glad to hear it's partially working. Bottom line, if you can got the terminals to come up, you're 95% of the way there, so that is good news.

In terms of why the EDC may not be working:

1) is the key authorized for edc?
2) Did you perform the last step to register EDC? I put it at the end of the list.
3) Was EDC install on the old server?
