cannot edit DBEdit

how come i cannot edit it?? i have checked all the settings....

i have a DBGrid, with a datasource,query and table
then i have a DBedit also conneted to the above..

thus the dbedit contains the first row's of the dbgrids staffname...

but when i run my app i cannot edit the dbedit...

i need help please
