Have a strange problem in Windows Explorer on a laptop running XP Pro. You can cut and paste files into other folders but cannot drag and drop them. Nothing happens, no error no nothing. Click on refresh and nothing.
Have rebooted the laptop and no different.
Any clues?!

In Windows Explorer are you cutting and pasting from another computer or locally?

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Perhaps running the System File Checking program by typing Sfc /Scannow in the Start Run box (have your XP CD handy) will fix it.

If it is only a recent error, System Restore might help you out.

Any other strange problems on your machine? Running an up to date virus scan might reveal something.

If it is really worrying you, you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
