I cannot drag and drop icons into the recycle bin. In excel the mouse acts as if its held down. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del before I can double click on anything. Ive tried the suggestions in thread 621-692319 but to no avail.

Ive run Norton Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware, Spybot, a-squared, CW Shredder, Advanced Window Cleaner, Registry Mechanic, Ewido but none of these have rectified the situation.

Any ideas guys???

webit2006,

Two other possibilities come to mind, just off the top of my head.

1. Have you tried using another mouse? The mouse may act like the button is held down due to some hardware problem with the mouse.

2. Have you tried creating another User Profile in Windows to see if you can replicate this behavior? It's possible that some setting or corruption in your User Profile is causing this problem.

Drag and drop problem

Cannot drag/drop icons or files on desktop or in windows explorer
faq779-5242

Dear all

It ended up being a fault mouse and a corrupted mouse pad driver. Once I disconnected the mouse and realised the problem still occurred I re installed the touchpad driver and this resolved the issue.

Thank you all for your help.
