cannot download messages with qmail

I have a qmail server correctly configured and messages are received in the popboxes as it is confirmed by syslog files. However when somebody downloads messages via pop3 with an outlook express client some of the messages are lost. The problem appears mainly when there are attachments included.
Can anybody tell me something about it please?
