CANNOT DOWNLOAD FROM IE. HELP Please !!!

I cannot download from IE. XP Pro , IE 6 sp1.
I was able to receive files using FTP and from windows Updates.
I tried :
- security of IE is set ok.
- firewall is not enabled
- uninstalled and reinstalled IE.
- installed some security updates of windows.
- connecting to same provider from different machine did work.
- tried re-register some dll that someone suggested here...
- tried to delete the HKEY....extentions key from registry - no help...

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS BESIDE FORMATING ????
HELP PLEASE.....

What is the error message or symptom?
You could download and install Opera from

http://www.opera.com

and see if that works...

when downloading it says it cannot find the site i was connecting to.
Installing DAP (acceleration software) it is able to download but not from
the explorer itself.

havn't installed opra yet but i assume it will allow me as well....

Run Disk Cleanup to remove old Temp files and Temporary Internet Files.

Try running the System File Checking program by typing Sfc /Scannow in the Start Run Box.

Are there any restrictions being set by Group Policy?

Havn't set any group policies.
is there somthing i should check about it ?
is there a specific thing in the policy that you think might be the problem ?

btw, when installing Accelerator program like "Getright" i can DL, but not from the IE.

Sorry for not updating before but the solution was simple.
there are some files of microsoft that are shared with different windows application (windows/office....)

as far as i remember there was a file user.dat which was on read only. setting it to Archive allowed Download.

it is written somewere at microsoft if you deep search.
