Cannot Display Portal Home Page

Morning All

Being a total newbie to Sharepoint, I have been through all the set up
routines for Sharepoint, and created my Portal.

I received the Success Page

http://localhost:27190/SPS/PortalCreateSuccess.aspx

However, whenever I try to connect to the
Home Page (

http://abciis/)

or
Administration Page (

http://abciis/_layouts/1033/Default.aspx)

I get a 'The page cannot be displayed' error

Assistance please as to where/what I have gone wrong

Is abciis your machine name?

If its not try connecting to http://[machinename or IP [ort if not 80]]/[subsite if you have not placed the topsite under the root]

And btw the _layouts folder is a folder for administration pages the Default page is created for you in the database and is not accesible through the _layouts folder.

Try checking the web application Identity by going to IIS, Go to the Application Pool, right click on the SharePoint App and go to Identity tab. Make sure that the account and password entered in there is the same one as you have setup for the SharePoint Account. For some reason, this does not always gets automatically updated when the password for the account is updated.
