cannot dial out

I have recently added a four port card to our system and I have assigned the lines to handsets as lines 31, 32, 33, 34 as I have lines 1,2,3ringing and showing on the left three keys. When I press the oppsite keys where the new lines are I get what sounds like dial tone but I cannot get a line. One the top key on the right I do not get any tone just the line selecting indicator.

Do a Feature *0 and then press all the buttons on your phone. Are the lines where you think they are? Now you have to troubleshoot why your seizing a line but no dial tone. Also, check dialtone going into the system.

What does the display say when you press the new line keys?

You may have to either give the ext's proper pool access, or configure your co's as public.
