I have a user who cannot delete, or move email from one of her personal folders. She receives the following message: "The file H:\outlook\xxxxxxx.pst has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in ths file, select some of the items that you no longer need, and then permanently delete the by pressing SHIFT+DELETE. you could also consider using the new Outlook Personal Folder file (.pst) introduced with Outlook 2003 that provides greater capacity for storing items and folders." She selects several message to deleted or move but still can't accomplish this action. The user is on an Windows XP workstation, using Outlook 2003. The folder contains emails she has saved for several years and she wants to delete some of that mail to reduce her pst file. The pst is a little over 1 GB in size. Ran SCANPST with no luck. Found and KB article (832925)haven't tried this yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else has ran into this problem.

Well, first, get the .pst file off the network share - that's not supported, and Microsoft is very vocal about that due to problems it can cause - such as yours.

Create a new .pst file and move the email she wants to save to it. Kill the old file.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.
