Hi all, I’m having an issue deleting a folder on an NTFS formatted drive can anyone help?

So far I’ve tried deleting direct with explorer, through the command prompt and through a share, the path to the folder is only 50 charters from the drive root so it's not too long.

If I list the directory in command prompt this is what I see, the BAUHAUS directory is the one that won't go I can open it but can't view NTFS permissions. I have also rebooted the server and ran checkdisk on the volume.

04/08/2009 15:16 <DIR> .
04/08/2009 15:16 <DIR> ..
04/08/2009 13:19 <DIR> BAUHAUS
1 File(s) 0 bytes
3 Dir(s) 197,651,972,096 bytes free

Thanks.

Right-click, properties, security, advanced and see if you can take ownership. If you can take ownership, the you should be able to change the permissions, then delete it.

I tried all options in the GUI, giving myself full control taking ownership and so on but it just said the folder was no longer there even though I could open it. In the end I used the util below.

Cheers.

i just saw this post and was going to suggest to try Unlocker...great little piece of software :)

Yes I was impressed I just could not get rid of this folder, checkdisk, safe mode, command line you name it and it's a new server so I don't think it was spyware. Anyway Unlocker zapped it straight away, I wasn't really expecting it to.
