When this happened on an extension I was working on, I tried all the extensions mentioned. Nothing worked. So I waited until the next day to remove the station. It worked. At night after the system does a back up the extension must get "freed up" therefore I was able to edit/remove/reassign the extension. Since the extension was for a new employee I used a different extension all together then the next day I removed the extension I didn't desire.

Object in use; please try later"

reset system 2 or higher will drop all calls.
recovery time for the system will depend on the system and the level of reset.

tools built into the switch would allow dropping the hung call without a reset.

station call-appr lines blinking is an indication of a held call that is hung.

This would need Command: status station xxxx (ring cutoff on/off status)

look at the voice terminal, make sure "normal" button is active and not
the "directory", "inspect", or "ringer-off" buttons. Other button types such as
"call-timer" and "timer" may cause this issue as well.

call forward and send calls states will not cause "Object in use; please try
later" when making changes.

list bridge xxxx
possible busy / release of station or stations with bridged appearances of the
primary call-appr could also be tried to idle the call-appr buttons and allow
change or removal of the station.

Joe2938: I tried busy out, then tried to remove, still read 'object in use'. The only other option I had was to wait until the next day and I could remove it.

If there are briged appearances, and one or more of them are in use, you'll get that error. Usually have to wait until that extension frees up then run your rem stat
