Guys in this thread Thread1496-1593427 and again in this one their seems to be something with the temp files getting larger than 100 messages you can an “Cannot create file” error message. Is there a work around or patch for this? Clearing out the cache temporally resolves the problem but is there a permanent fix?

Thanks Guys..

if the system will not clean them out i have used this in the passed with much success. It helps with this when windows just will not or can not cleanup after it self.

CCleaner. It cleans out cookies, temp files, etc based on your preferences.

Thats Just in my tag line Ken. I'm like you if you look at my profile and help out a lot of others. But not everyone is like you and I are. [smile]

I guess what I am worried about is the higher up's getting on MM and having these problems. We are doing our own cut over from Intuity to MM (1700 boxes) I want to be able to fix this before it's deployed everywhere and then I get these calls.

Why does this happen? I guess that would help me understand it a little more. Being I am really just getting started with MM.

And thanks Ken for the help you give to others. You and others like you is what makes Tek-Tips such a great resource.

MM 5.2 with exchange integration. MM is running on three 8800 servers.

I "think" I was able to figure out the problem this morning.

It seems that outlook creates a temp file when you play your messages through your PC. The local PC can only have 100 temp .wav files. When you click on a message outlook creates this temp file so you can play your message. These files are stored and not deleted when you delete a message. People that clean up their computers using the spyware app’s (CC cleaner for one) cleans out the cache and this removes them. There is also another way of going directly to the folder and removing the temporary files.

1. Open REGEDIT.EXE and go to Edit -> Find... In the Find dialog box type "OutlookSecureTempFolder" without the quotes and locate that registry key.
2. That key will contain the actual folder location, and will look like:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER_NAME%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK#\ (where # is a random letter or number)
3. Copy the location of that folder.
4. Click on Start -> Run... and paste the folder location from step #4 then click OK.
5. Windows Explorer will open that folder. Please, delete all files present.
6. Restart Microsoft Outlook and you should be able to open your attachments

There are three ways around this. One is to call into MM and retrieve your messages. This leaves out the temp file altogether but defeats the flexibility of MM. Another way is using the thick client and have MM call you back on your phone to retrieve your messages. Again this method doesn’t create the temp file. Also when you play your messages through your IPhone, Droid, <insert your phone of choice>, outlook is not making the temp files.

I an thinking that someone that cleans up their mailbox cleans up the temp files as this happens? But I am not sure. Is this the way it works?

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the help on this.
