I'm having some difficulty copy files to a network place I have setup to a site on my Sharepoint 2003 server. I am getting the following error message 'Cannot copy <filename>: The File Exists'.

Has anyone come across this and do you know of any fixes?

What are the file names? Make sure that there are no special symbols i.e.

!~@#$%^&*()<>{}\/? etc.

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.

I've definitely had character problems like Beowulf005 mentions. Not any restricted file types?

Hello,

You can get a list of blocked filetypes in SharePoint Central Administration. There you can easily add or remove filtypes you want to block/un-block

You have it under Security Configuration, Manage blocked filetypes.

Best Regards,
Thomas

This seems to have been solved by elevating user rights to the local documents and settings folder of the local PC
