We had our SunFire 280R go down for no apparent reason and need help in establishing the console connection. Is there any odd connection port or terminal setting required to get in?

Cannot console into SunFire 280R

If the OS was installed by using Sun keyboard and monitor, and you have never rebooted the server after the installation, you may have to reconnect the keyboard and monitor the machine to make it work. If the server has been rebooted at least once without any console there, serial A with 9600,n,8,1 would probably work.

Situation corrected when I found out the client was trying to use a Cisco rollover cable to connect to the Sun box. When the appropriate cable is used, it works fine.
