Hi,
I can ping to a PC on my network but I cannot see it when I am using 'My NetworkPlace > Entire Network > Entire Content > Microsoft Windows Networks.
If I am on the other PC, I can connect and see the folders on the Windows 2000 machine.
The folder are shared on the two machines.
I would appreciate if anybody come up with a hint.
Thnks.

You describe very well a firewall issue.

. If the problem client is XP, check whether the native ICF firewall is enabled; . Watch out for "hidden" firewalls in antivirus software. PC-Illan is notorious for this;
. Watch out for poorly uninstalled firewalls. Use Task Manager to see if you are still not running an old installation of Zone Alarm or Sygate or Norton IS, or something else.
. Passwords. Windows Networking wants a real username and password at startup. Do no hit Esc or Cancel; no blank or empty passwords for any user;
. Something shared by all workstations. Drive, Folder, File or printer, something shared by all.
. Same identical Workgroup Name, every Computer Name should be unique;
. All users of workstation A made username and password users of Computer B; and vice-versa, for all machines on the Workgroup.

After making these changes, reboot. Some involve registry entries that are only read on a restart.

You should be okay, but see:
