I just bought two new HP Probooks with Windows 7 Pro. I have a Sonicwall Global VPN Client installed on each one. The one that I am using had Norton 360 installed and the other has McAfee. The VPN worked on both when we first got them, about two weeks ago. We both connected to the same network when visiting Louisiana and both stopped working.
The firewall on the Norton 360 had ports 500 and 4500 open as did then McAfee have them ope on the second machine. I thought it might be a faulty install, so I used the Sonicwall utility that is supposed remove everything, removed it, and then tried a reinstall with Admin account.
Symptoms: The log has two entries that seem interesting. One says that the ports are in use already (4500) and (500) and the other says that there is no entry in the systems interfaces table for MAC address 00:06:73:xx:xx:xx. The log says the VPN connects.
I thought that maybe it was Windows 7 so I again uninstalled the client and installed it on the Virtual Windows XP virtual machine. The client connects in the VM, but then gets hung trying to get an IP address. I tried a static IP, but it just gets hung like in Windows 7. Just stumped at this point. Any suggestions will be tried. Thanks
John
