I have a Windows 2000 SP4 Server on a LAN

I cannot connect to the Server via Remote Desktop connection. I get the following error:

'The client cannot connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled....'

I have the enable remote connections tab enables on the Server.

No error appears in the Event log. Any ideas how I can get it to work?

Thanks..

Check and see if Terminal Services are running on the server. I've had problems before where TS doesn't start correctly and you are unable to connect. Sometimes TS will hang in the stopped state. Usually there is something in the event log that indicates this, maybe from service manager.

Have you checked enabled allow log on to the terminal server in terminal services profile tab in the properties of the user .

Pathping the server, then the firewall IP, notice where the packets are lost. While you at it adjust your firewall MTU, and the remotes MTU with something like TCP Optimizer.

Thanks to all.

I reinstalled Terminal Services and it worked fine.
