cannot connect to VPN using belkin router

belkin 802.11.b wireless router, using cable modem to connect to internet.

but cannot access VPN.

reason why?

I had the same problem with the belkin router with my DSL connection. After playing with it, I gave up and bought a NetGear router. The setup is very easy, and I noticed that my VPN worked just fine. Afterwards, I did some configuration on the new router, including wireless setup and changing the LAN IP settings. From that point forward, my VPN would not work. I reset the router to original config and it works just fine. I think the problem for me was when I changed the IP settings for the router. I need to confirm this by checking the belkin router the same way, or if you get to it before me, please respond. I would be curious to know if that is what's causing the problem and why.
