Hello guys,

I've got a huge problem I am already working on for a long time and was hoping you had any ideas.

I have used the keyword search, but not found anything that could help me.

On my company network there is a Borderware firewall (version 7.0) with an IPSec VPN connection configured on it. Following settings:
* Key Exchange: IKE/ISAKMP
* Authentication using a Pre-shared key
* Dynamic Identification using the Email address

Now when I want to connect to this VPN using a Windows XP SP2 machine the connection is refused (Security negotiation timed out). On the XP machines I've got the following settings:
* Standard VPN connection
* VPN type is "L2TP-IPSec-VPN"
* Correct Pre-shared key in IPSec settings.

I hope this was enough information for anybody to help me. Thanks

Try automatic for vpn type...does this Borderware box have some sort of VPN client for Windows? I'd check their site and use their client vpn software...

Hey,

When I try Automatic VPN Type Windows uses PPTP by default. I have no idea how to change this behavior without setting it to "L2TP IPSec" manually.

BorderWare provides the Sentinel VPN Client. But I haven't found a valid download yet. Has anyone a link for me to download the Sentiel VPN Client?

Doesn't the company have a toll-free number? Did they sell you the box? You can try a Google hack...I can't remember how, but something like
%inurl:sentiel

I couldn't find anything satisfactorily with this Google hack but the thing is: It can't be necessary to install or use additional software when you just want to access a normal VPN, can it?

I mean I have also tried already with other software such as the "Draytek Smart VPN Client" but even then I could not connect to the VPN.

I have even heard that a VPN with nearly the same settings has already been accessed from a wireless DSL router.

Has anyone any suggestions what I could have configured wrong when looking at the settings I posted above?

This problem really starts annoying me now.

Thanks for your help and time.
