Help!

I have been trying to connect a Windows 98 machine to a SQL Server 2000 database, and I have gotten nowhere fast. I can see the folder structure on the Windows 2000 Server just fine. I have setup various users with different options in the Enterprise manager and the user setup for the 2000 server, and I continue to get the same results.

When I am attempting to setup the ODBC connection, I go into System DSN, click on Add and select SQL server. I enter in the name and description of the data source and click on the drop down arrow for selecting the SQL server. The only option that I have available is (local). I really need to know what I am missing so I can complete this connection.

If there is anyone that can assist me with this, I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

You should be able to type in the name of the server, not just select it from the dropdown. Hopefully you can go from there.

Try the IP address of the SQL Server.

Also, how is authentication set up for SQL Server? Is it Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication?

If it's Windows Authentication, the Win98 box needs to part of the domain.
