the problem

i have server 2003 and i have installed the domain controller and dns server (needed for domain controller to work), when i try and connect the domain is found and asks for my user and pass, after clicking ok and waiting 10-20 seconds the following message appears,

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "SIMPSON":
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation

when this comes up i checked the active users and computers for errors, i didnt find any error accept the computer i tryed connecting with had its account dissabled, if i tryed enabling the account the computer would automaticaly disable it again.

computer and network specs

router - bt home hub
client computer - wireless
server - ethernet 100mbps
the server and client computers are connected to the bt home hub (same network)

i have pinged the server from all computers and they all recieve 100 % back from the ping (0% loss)

any other infomation please ask,

thankyou in advance,

robert

have you tried connecting directly to the bt hub using ethernet on the client? just on that off chance that the wireless is having issues with sending and receiving the responses from the server.

This could be an DNS issue, how are your ip addresses assigned are they from dhcp via the home hub?, if they are set the address statically and make your primary DNS server the ip address of your dc.
