Hi,
I have a strange problem. From a windows 2000 machine I can conenct to any machine on the network. However, I cannot even ping this machine from anywhere else on the network. I tried pinging using both IP and name, tried telnet etc, but without success.

From this machine however, internet, mail, etc are all working fine.

Any ideas ? Thanks.

No, there is no firewall installed. This problem happened very recently , the machines were all connected just fine a few days back.

I have had this sort of thing happen before. I reinstalled windows protocols and reset the network connection and rejoined the workgroup/domain to get it working.

Under network connections, check the adapter's properties for any strange protocols and services that are installed. I usually see this when a VPN client is installed and th client has some sort of firewalling software built in.

Thanks guys, it was the VPN client setting.
