Very weird problem.

All of the sudden a laptop is not able to connect to the local network.

Cannot ping any IPs on the LAN (including the domain, controller and the gateway). However, it gets assigned an IP address via DHCP and is able to get out to the internet.

Tried everything that I could think of, including:
-removing and trying to re-add to the domain (fails since cannot see the domain controller)
- reinstalling TCP/IP
- playing with HOSTS file
- scanning for viruses and spyware
- assigning a static IP address

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Of course its the darn Watchguard MUVPN client!!! I didn't even look at it since the user did not have it starting automatically and there was no security policy icon in the system tray. But I guess it was still active in the background.

Great job, mayfran!!! Thanks everyone for their help.
