Hello,

I've got a an WinXP Laptop, installed (ICA Client) Program Neighborhood version 6.31.

Citrix Server is a Win2K machine. Our company network has one public static IP. I called our ISP and had incoming ports 1604 and 1494 opened and forwarded to the internal IP address of the Citrix server.

So, when someone wants to connect to the Citrix server, they can type in the public IP address (during ICA client config) and be forwarded to the internal IP address of the Citrix server.

Next, I opened Program Neighborhood (from my home laptop) and clicked "Find New Application set". I cliked the "Server Location" button, chose "TCP/IP", and added the public IP address to the list. After clicking OK, I typed in the name of the "Application Set" and clicked NExt, Next and Finish.

When I double clicked the icon created, the "connecting" window comes up and finally errors out, saying
"Cannot connect to Citrix server: I/O error"

What am I forgetting or doing wrong?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

In the connection properties make sure you have the "Use alternate address for firewall connection" checked. This is assuming you have setup your server with an alternate address already.

To set up an alternate IP address on the Citrix server:

Open Network and Dial Up Connections
- click Properties
- click TCP/IP properties
- click Advanced
- Under IP addresses click Add
- Type in the external IP address and the correct Subnet mask

Is this right? Do I need to reboot the server?

there is a command for setting an alternate address...
I beleive it is > altaddr
type it on the command prompt of you citrix server...

Thanks!!

I went to the Citrix server and typed the following:

altaddr /set xxx.xx.xx.xxx (x = my external IP address)

it seemed to take it properly, no errors came up.

I'm waiting to hear back from someone offsite and I'll let you know if it worked.

Hey all,

Here' the steps I took to make it work:

Go to each Citrix server
at command prompt type this:
altaddr /set (desired IP address)

Then configured Program Neighborhood with the following:

Connection type: LAN Click Next
Click Server Location
Protocol: TCP/IP
Add the IP address desired
Click Firewalls, choose use alternate IP CLick OK
Choose Application Set Name from drop down box
CLick Next, Next and Finish

Double Click the Icon and voila!
