Cannot connect to a network share using NET USE

I have a strange problem....

Windows 98 PC.

When I try and connect to a network share (share is on a Win 2K server) using the DOS NET USE command, it fails with an error 67: cannot find share, etc.

Yet when I "Map network drive" from the windows GUI it works fine. After that I can connect and disconnect from the share using NET USE no problem. That is until some time in the future (some days) when the problem starts again.

Any ideas? This only seems to happen in Windows 98, it does not seem to happen with Windows 95 machines.

At first I thought you did not have the permissions and security setup right for the share. Possibly since you are actually typing the share in when you "Map Network Drive", you are pointing to the actual share from the W98 PC directly. Maybe you can add that share to the LMHost file on the W98 PC? This in turn I think will put the share name in the computer everytime it reboots. Its been a while since I had this problem come up. Hope this clicks an idea of what to do

When you say "add the share to the LMHosts file", do you mean the LMHosts or Hosts file? I've always been confused as to the difference.

Also, do you mean add the share as in the path in UNC format (ie \\computername\share) or simply the NETBIOS name of the server?
