Cannot compact and repair backend but can the frontend

I have a database with a frontend and backend. I am trying
to compact and repair the back end and get the following
error.

You do not have the necessary permissions to use the
'SOE_CONTROL\SoeControlDataBase\Backend\new_1-8T_SOE_DATABASE_be.mdb' object.
Have your system adminsitrator or the person who created
this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.

I created this database so I do not know why I cannot compact
the backend. I can compact the frontend. Any advice on how
to fix this?

You may need higher permissions on the network share.

Do you still have administrative permissions on all mdb objects?

Yes I do. I think this database at one time had a different workgroup assigned and that has disappeared.

Do you stil have the PID's of that mdw file? You could recreate it with the same User names & PIDs and jump in again!
