Cannot change W2k computer name to lowercase??

Hi, I currently have a W2k member server of an AD domain that serves as one of my RSA ACE Replica servers. Our problem is that the server name is in Upper case (the RSA SecurID server application doesnt like uppercase server names) , and no matter how many times I reset the computer name to lower case and reboot it always comes back as Upper case??

Could anyone advise how to resolve this issue??

try this

1. rename the server to something else in lowercase and reboot

2. delete and DNS entries with the old name, ensure you replicate the changes

3. then rename it again to the name you want it to be in lowercase and reboot, should be OK

(all my dcs and member servers are in lowercase)

failing that I would suggest taking your member server out of the domain and then do the above 3 steps again and then rejoin domain afterwards "Work to live, don't live to work"
