I've run into a BCM 50 Rls.1 and cannot change the time on it. Whenever you go in through set or element manager, it reverts back to to wrong time. I have tried changing back to get the time off the network, and NTP, but it still reverts back. Has anyone run into this, and if so what is the solution?

Make sure your BCM is fully patched. They make a patch for BCM 50's that are losing time (about 14 or 15 min a day) but i'm not sure about the time reverting completely back to default.

From what I remember for the BCM 400's, you have to reboot for the time change to take effect. Might be the same case for the BCM 50.

BCM50 - Unable to change date or time BCM50

Every time you attempt to change the time and date Element Manager reports updating and then returns the time back to its current value. Also unable to change via telset.

There is an interaction between the IP system and time/date change.
To resolve the problem, please:

1) Launch Element Manager.

2) Administration->General->Service Manager
Check the status of 'tmwservice' service. This is likely stopped, resulting in inability to change the date and time.

3) Configuration->System->IP Subsystem
Review the Default Gateway setting.

Correct the Default Gateway to match the required Default Gateway. If the Default Gateway is not populated, or is a dummy/factory default which does not tie in with the IP address of the BCM, then please correct this.

For example, before the change:
IP 10.10.10.51
mask 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

Depending on the BCM type, change the default gateway. In my case I have a BCM50e, so the correct default gateway is that of the on-board router.

For example, after the change:
IP 10.10.10.51
mask 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway 10.10.10.52

However with a BCM50, if no physical Default Gateway exists, modify default gateway so it has a dummy default gateway that reflects the correct IP subnet.

For example, after the change:
IP 10.10.10.51
mask 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway 10.10.10.1

You will lose connection as you make the change. Reconnect.

4) Launch Element Manager. Administration->General->Service Manager Check the status of 'tmwservice' service. This is likely still stopped. Start the service, and check it is now 'Running'.

5) Modify the time/date as required. This should now modify okay.

No need to reboot. Set it to manual, set the time zone, set the time, and be sure to click elsewhere before you exit to save the change. If you just disconnect, the change will not be implemented. If the system is on the network, just set it to NTP and forget it. Set the time zone first though. If it still doesn't keep your settings, you probably are missing a few patches. If you're using the wrong version of desktop software, the system often ignores your changes - I just ran across that on a 450.
