Cannot change schema master role holder

Hello,

I went to change the schema role holder this morning (from a 2000 dc to a 2003 dc), and found that the same machine appears in both the current box but also in the target computer box, so I refrained from clicking the change button.

Why would it appear in both? I cannot find anything on google, and I have registered the DDL to enable writing to the schema as well.
