I can get to other websites just fine. I can ping and I can tracert it. When try going thru internet explorer it says page cannot be found. This does not happen with any other website I try. Running windows xp home. Tried getting xp updates, but that fails too. Removed all the adware and spyware that spybot search and destory and Adaware found. Might just wipe and restore windows unless someone has some ideas.

Howdy,

Have you tried cleaning out the Temporary Internet Files and Temp files in

C:/Documents & Settings/{username}/Local Settings/

Local settings is a hidden folder so you'll either have to show hidden folders or type the address in manually.

This always fixes that exact problem on my system.

Be fantastic if anybody has any ideas how to prevent it ever happening but that should fix it for a bit.

Hope this helps

Tried it. Didn't work. also removed all temp files in the windows/temp folder. also tried creating a new user and didn't work under that user either.
Thanks anyway...

Check with notepad your HOST file to see if an entry mentions microsoft.com

HOST is usually found in c:\%windir%\system32\drivers\etc

I ended up reformating and re-installing windows.
Thanks
